Covid-19

Information due to Covid-19

The Public Health Agency's general advice is available on their website.

Regarding children and young people, the Public Health Agency of Sweden writes as follows:

Children and adolescents account for a small proportion of COVID-19 cases. Most cases are infected by an adult and have mild symptoms. Children also infect others to a lesser extent than adults, and schools as an arena have not been shown to drive the spread of infection.

Studies also show that school closures during the pandemic have not played a decisive role in controlling the spread of the virus. However, closing schools has other negative consequences for children and young people.

- Can we have Dance for Health groups?

Decisions on whether Dance for Health groups can start or not are made locally. Talk to those responsible in your organization and follow regional/municipal guidelines.

Example: Åsa Borulf is a senior school physician at the Student Health Medical Unit, Region Örebro County. She recommends continued dance activities for the reason that she sees it as an important activity for young people who need it. A prerequisite for participation is, of course, to be completely free of symptoms and to wash and sanitize your hands before and after dancing. The number in each group should also be limited in order to maintain distance in the hall.

Comment Anna Duberg: In the wake of a pandemic, symptoms of mental illness risk increasing. Dance for Health can serve as an oasis from worry, which strengthens security and increases physical activity levels. If it is possible to offer groups in Dance for Health's method in such a way that the public health authority's advice can be followed, I hope that activities can continue across the country. Not least to show that when it really matters, we are here.

Tip: Limit the number of participants, spread out the participants in the hall and avoid crowding. Change of clothes can be done at home. Only name-labeled water bottles. No parents or friends come in. Review the timing of the groups to avoid travel during rush hour. Create a digital platform to maintain community for those who need to stay at home due to symptoms. Adaptations in the form of outdoor groups or via video sharing tools if needed.

- What applies to Dance for Health instructor courses?

  • Several of Dance for Health's instructor courses are given digi-physically. The number of participants IRL on the instructor course is limited in order to be able to keep distance on both theoretical and practical course elements. Personal responsibility for keeping distance applies during breaks and lunches, the premises are spacious. Very good conditions for washing and sanitizing hands frequently in all premises.

  • If you or someone close to you becomes ill as the course approaches, you need to cancel your participation and stay at home. You can then choose whether you want your course fee credited to another course in the future or whether you want a refund.

  • If you need to travel to the location where the instructor course is held, you are responsible for ensuring that it is conducted in a safe way that avoids infection.

  • If you or your employer have been financially affected by the pandemic, you can split the payment for the instructor course into two instalments.
